They are both conning Barbara so they can get the money back that she took out of Max's account. What movie were you watching up until the end?

but wouldn't love-heewitts' new life/lifestyle as a blissfully wedded 20's-bopper have frowned-upone her mom and liota's future cons..!?

hammy acting, but funny zingers, one-liners and tv-remote lunging however..

and love-hewitts boobs were spectacular, although she is a rail..

My only problem, much as I loved this movie, is that it's a little hard to believe that Dean, even with help from Max, could completely fool Barbara, the woman who taught Max almost everything she knew about conning?

I was confused about what happened with Max, Dean and Barbara. But I also wonder what happened with Paige, did they get together after Paige told him who she was?

T-Smitts, I thought the same thing too, but remember how she says in the movie she's been out of "the business for so long", maybe she forgot. Or maybe she was just a bitter elderly person desparate for some love :)

Maybe. I mean, I think even normal people would be suspicious that this charming fellow was after something.

reply

Depends on how long they've been playing her. If they were on the first day when we saw that scene, yes, something is fishy. If it's six months later, they've had time to put Barbara's fears to rest. At least that's the way I took. Some time has passed, and they're ready to close the deal on the old partner.

I don't get how the con would have worked because Max's other cons ended with Page getting the guy to cheat with her but how would it work with Dean and Barbara? They would need another guy to tempt her and also it's not guaranteed to work because women aren't as horny as men. I just don't know how it would work so they could get the money. I didn't really like the ending...it confused me and left too many questions, but then again they also couldn't continue with the story any longer.

reply

The movie sucked me in, but I found the ending wholly unsatisfying.
I was hoping for a much more interesting and surprising twist at the end (e.g. Page and Barbara had been playing Max all along - maybe Jack was even in on it), or SOMEthing at least to make you go back through the movie in your head to piece it back together.

Also, I agree there's no way Barbara would fall for a con after her years in the business.

Very weak ending.

reply

I agre, the ending did let the film down a little. I was expecting something more romantic between Page and Jack. I love films with soppy, romantic storylines! Although this film's ending was weak, it still finds itself into my top 10 due to the whole storyline being romantic!

There's nothing saying that Max is conning Barbara the way she conned all those men. Remember that Max has conned other people in different ways (Remember Tensy's maid?).

I doubt very much that the con is "get Barbara to cheat and clean her out in a divorce". It may be something as simple as getting Dean close enough to her so that the two of them can clean out Barbara's account.

exactly. if he had access to her funds then she'd be able to do nothing if he took off with everything. she couldn't really go to the police, could she?

The ending was way too predictable for me. I'd rather have seen Ray Liotta pranking Sigourney Weaver.

reply

Then the should have put on the screen at the beginning of the scene "Six months later"

reply

I totally see what your saying, my only guess is that Barbara thinks shes conning him, and maybe her guard is down because she believes that he is the sucker. She probably would neer think it woul happen to her because of all her experience? Who knows.

The guy does tell the mother not to con anymore but I guess they decide to get back the money the old lady had stolen from the mother. That is why the mother is watching from the car.

I thought it was the other way around. Max and that old lady were conning Dean !! damn, i hate not knowing for sure

reply

thats exactly what i thought the first time i saw the movie. but then i watched it again earlier today, and i thought for sure that barbara called dean some other name other than dean. i think... i dont kno

reply

Let's settle this once and for all:

Max and Dean are conning Barbara to get back the money that Barbara cleaned out of Max and Page's account.

When Max went to Dean's hotel room earlier and said "First you gotta help me with one thing.", this is what she was talking about.

reply

I know this is a really late response, but you're right. She called Dean "Stanley," meaning that he and Max were indeed conning her in some way.

reply

lol thts pretty funny to think someone would think that.

An old hag gets a younger good looking guy to fall in love with her with her sexual charisma.

Its pretty obvious even on first viewing that its max and dean conning barbera to get back the money she stole.
