What was that about?
Sure Paz De La Huerta now is a total hottie NOW, but in the movie it almost seemed to foreshadow a future relationship between MacGuire's character and Mary Agnes.

Wrong. In the book Melony is Homer's 1st. Mary Agnes is kinda Melony's shadow and doesn't really have anything to do with Homer or anyone else for that matter. She isn't a major character at all. Melony is a biggie though although she doesn't end up with Homer either. Homer actaually lives with Wally, Candy and their (Candy and Homer's) son Angel and then eventually moves to St. Clouds to take over for Larch alone.
