where is the house used as the orphanage in this movie?

According to the filming locations it was the Northampton State Hospital in Northampton, Massachusetts. I think it's been demolished.

He's taking the knife out of the Cheese!

It has been (I grew up there -- in the area, not the hospital ;) ).

The exteriors were of Ventfort, a mansion once owned by J.P. Morgan's sister, in Lenox, Mass.
