Is Michael Caine's accent supposed to suck?

I think his American accent sounds horrendous. Or did he speak that way on purpose. The academy must've lost their minds when they nominated him, and then he won.

It's pretty bad I agree although I still think he deserved that Oscar

The accent is shocking, but the performance is still brilliant. I don't think Michael Caine can do much wrong these days, TBH. My one complaint with The Dark Knight was that he wasn't in it enough.

Yes, his accent is pretty bad. But think of how many times British people have had to listen to American actors use horrendous British accents in movies. We Americans can endure this one time.

I liked his accent.

Any time anyone attempts a Maine accent, it usually sucks. So, I liked his accent because, although it wasn't authentic, it was different, not his usual one - and it wasn't harsh.

It's worse when someone tries too hard, and it's over-done and over the top.

was wanting for him to pronounce bangor, bang-her! and funny brit sexual linguistic folly would follow, sadly it didn't happen!

His name...was Julio Iglesias!
