This isn't a review, it is just thoughts that I had on the film itself. Feel free to read, agree, disagree, or just plain discuss.

I love talking movies.

You gave a very good perspective on the films message.....You say.... If the film really wanted to be as ballsy as it gets credit for being, then what really should have happened is that Homer should’ve gotten Candy pregnant in their affair, and to prevent Wally from finding out about their affair, she has an abortion. Now that would have truly gotten the message of pro-choice across, and truly been as courageous as some of the strong left wing community has made the film out to be.

....With this statement, It was something odd about the way that is was ok for Homer and Candy to use abortion to cover up there cheating issue from Wally, While trying to show it was equal to the rape and incest abortion for the daughter. Obviously the affair abortion was not needed while the other one made more sense.

You also say.... As if we should feel empathy and sympathy for her being trapped between the thought of being in love with two people at the same time. I found the character of Homer to be even more repulsive in his attitude towards the situation. He seemed to feel no guilt or remorse for what he had done. Wally had been very good to Homer, and Homer seemed to not give any if much thought to how much pain he could’ve caused him. Homer seemed instead to be very selfish and self centered about his own desires. Worse yet I felt that the film really pushed for you as its audience to side with Homer, and feel that going after your desires, even if it means completely screwing someone in the process is the right thing to do. I didn’t appreciate that message.

This is so overlooked the way Homer felt about a crippled soldier and his friend this would have crushed Wally whom has lost his ability to walk and to have lost his bride to his best fiend in the process. Yet Homer seemed to not be concerned about any of this, He was even to cowardly to say goodby or even express any good words to a fiend and soldier retuning home in a wheel chair. Sneaking off the farm like a thief in the night. This bugged me a lot. I was glad she chose her husband over him at least she had some redeeming qualities.
