A Sequel??
Do you think there should be a follow up to this hit movie?
shareHell yeah!In fact go to fanfiction.net go to movies then go to micilanious movies*Did i spell that right?*Go to Genre and click on general press enter and there should be a story that i wrote called A small soldiers fanfic.Do it now.
Replie to my post or you shall feel the cheesy wrath of Tucan Sam!You were warned.
Yeah! There should be another one, but they can't bring Gregory and Kirsten back, since they're a bit older now! Aww...
shareGregory & Kirsten are both older now, but they can still return for the roles, a few years could have passed since the events of the first film.
The closest thing to a sequel to this movie was the kid's 1998 novel Small Soldiers: The Gorgonites Quest. It was written by Gavin Scott (who co-wrote the movie and came up with the idea). It was a pretty good novel although IMO not as good as the first film, although it's definitely worth a read if you can find it. Here's a link with some information:

I doubt Kirsten Dunst would want to return to this kind of movie since she's gone on to bigger and better things. And we wouldn't have the great Phil Hartman! Plus the fact that this movie wasn't exactly a smash hit at the box office, I doubt we'll see one anytime soon. And after 8 years, all we'd get is a cheap straight-to-video sequel.
shareAhhhh....those cheap-o straight to video sequels....There's a love/hate thing going on between them and me. I also doubt that Mrs Dunst would ever bother returning to such a "low-key" or "childish" movie. But, does anyone think that a second story-line is salvagable from the first movie? All my insane ramblings aside.... :)
If they had the cheek to change any of the original toy characters (obviously the human ones would have changed) in a sequel....*fumes*
I bet they could come up with a decent story. With how many Commandos were on the loose it would be easy to believe that the EMP missed a couple.
shareA storyline line could be that they re-manufacture all of the action figures, implanting a new chip into them. Also, they've all got upgrades. Like the Commandos are cyber-soldiers, and the Gogornites are stronger, faster, les scared, and are really good at such things as scouting areas. But what happens is the chip is hit by some sort of EMP, and now they've come alive again. Plus, they could add some new charcters, possibly making up to 10 warriors each side.
shareWhat about Gil Mars's line near the end of the film - "Add a few zeroes to the end, and we'll talk - I know a few rebels in South America who'll find these toys very entertaining..."
The sequel could concentrate on how the Commandos would be used in a military situation.

Yep Globotech declared he will sell them to south american rebels.
They sound like the perfect soldiers to terrorise the public or even over through a government.
Possible Owners or commando elite
Taliban targeting public pplaces using small inconspiguous toys.
Iraq, libia Nth Korea trying to topple the US military.
pakistan and/or palistine using them on the front line.
the destruction these toys caused with civilian handy man tools,
you can only imagine what they could do if they were trained by war experts and given better tools utilities (a munitions factory?)

Whatever the sequel's plot is, I would need all the Commandos (and possibly more?) to return. I don't really give a frag about the Gorgonites. :)
I think it would be quite wonderful for the Elites to have trainee Commandos, that have been introduced as a new range. Just think....an explosive trainee, a sniper trainee....major trainee? They could all take on trainees (I love that word....train-eeee) and use whoever they are pitted up against next as target practice. :0
And it would be awesome if Major Hazard sought revenge on Alan and Mrs Dunst by raising an army of Commandos (all different, but maybe all seperated into different types of training, and the leaders of these different training regiments would of course be the original elites....for example, a sniper squad led by Butch, or a communication squad led by Link) and waging a real war on Alan. So what if he's grown up now; the ultimate revenge could be had by Chip going after Alan's children (assuming he's had some by now)....
Or, it would be cool to have an Apocolypse-Now or Platoon-esque Small Soldiers movie. I have always thought that maybe one day, one of the Commandos would take it upon themselves to rise up against Major Hazard and overthrow him....I'm seeing a mutiny here.... :) That would make such a cool sequel.
They could make a film where the Gorgonites return from 'Gorgon' and visit Alan and everyone again. While visitng, the Gorgonites would join their creator (played by that bald guy... who I don't seem to remember at this moment) and as they are there at Globotech, they are visible during an online 'webcam' converstation with the owner who is talking to Link Static after a mission. Still programmed to get the Gorgonites, he tells Chip Hazard and they return to kick some Gorgonite scum!
Featuring the return of most characters. Because Dunst probably would want way too much money, they could cut her out of the film completelly and therefor need to explenation why Phil Filmple isn't there.
Though a film without Phil is almost no movie at all. I thought he was hilarious.

Link Static hacks into MSN.... : )
One thing that is definitely needed is more time to let the individual Commandos fight in their individual styles.

Hit movie??
Good lord.......how sad.
Yes yes, we're all SAPs here. Sad and proud.
So anyway. The Commando Elite being used in the frontlines-now that would be amusing. Wouldn't the human soldiers feel a bit....left out? Hehe.
OMG THIS WAS THEBEST FILM INTHE WORLD

Heh, good. To explain the loss of the Fimples you could say they moved away.

No No No there should not be a sequel! Not in a gazillion years! Well here is an idea, Timmy can grow up and stuff and can go to South America find a chick there then there are new toys on the block and Blech! I don't like it. One, The only chick that Timmy needs to find is me and two Small Soldiers shouldn't have a sequel.
Jacob Smith as Timmy Fimple: For my birthday, I want clothes.
Too Cute in that Scene!
I Love Jake!
Jacob Smith Rules! How Immature... W/E
@~~~~>~~~~~ Much Love!
I Love Jake. Again.
Timmy finds true love in the arms of a fanatical fan....only to have the Commandos chase after him, hell-bent on destruction.
:)
Ha Ha Ha you are too too funny!

Ok, Globotech decides to redo the Commando Elite and Gorgonite toy lines, adding more Gorgonites and more Commandos. this time, they make sure the programming is done right, all programming used in th originals was deleted from the computers, and a new program was written, one that involved the Gorgonites to be, not cowards, but honourable warriors, for example. unfortunately, the program that lists the extent of how much the toys will beat the crap out of each other (you know, a gorgonite gets hit by a plastic dart fired from a commando gun will shut down, so that there can be actual battles) is lost in the computer, and searching for it, the computer finds the old program! a full set of each of the Gorgonites and Commando Elite escape, and later meeting up in the deep woods, they get thrown into the ultimate battle to destroy each other!
BTW, have them gain access to an older part of the company, they activate the machinery, and do some of their own weapons design (can you say: approx. 3 inch long fully functional toy chainsaw?)
Would You Like To Know More?
I think the idea is difficult to make believable, the first was absurd but some of these are just too out there. The Globotech programme thing would be cool to see. Personally I can't believe more were not manufactured, perhaps a toy collector is attacked by his commando toys as the gorgonites go looking for their home. Then chip hazard and his boys copy their chips into other toys, creating a small army.
I have another idea too. What if mcfarlane toys went made and put the chips into their products. Archer vs Predator, they crazy spinning one vs alien, the strong one vs spawn etc.
Batteries Not Included is already taken.
See?- http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0092494/
I like that movie, too...
In a magazine I read, they suggested a sequel in the style of "Commando" and "Predator", with Roman "II", maybe even ressurecting Cannon Pictures to do it!
And cast&crew:
Director: Paul Verhoven
Archer: Mike Tyson (under heavy make-up)
Chip: Schwarzenegger
Nick: Mr. T.
Kip: Stallone
Brick: Dolph Lundgren
It's been 8 years since. I don't think so.

Oh cool! After reading a few of the previous posts (okay, all of them actually), I can imagine a few variations on both yours and the others' ideas.
First, maybe those "foolish nerdy teenage kids" could either may possibly be instead some retired robotics engineers or maybe the retired builders of the original Commando Elite & Gorgonite line. I mean, I really like the idea of teens instead, but I'm worried if that may not be too realistic to have them make 'better, enhanced' Commandos. If we were to use that idea, then make it so that the Commandos aren't completely better.
So, they research more on the Commandos and suggests for Globotech to rerelease the line. After many negotiations they do rerelease them with newer, enhanced and more modern forms and maybe even a new line for better sales. They have more customizable features and can be accesorized uniquely. Maybe they can be given some type of battle suits and vehicles, I dunno. They are reprogrammed so the Gorgonites are more like true warriors and they have more weapons and the Commando Elite, however, are still spicy but not as dangerous as their prototype forms. The new program for the Commandos, however, does not involve destroying the Gorgonite race. And the old program is deleted from the computer files. Of course, to prevent from any problems happening, they produce a lesser amount and they test them. Even though more money is spent by making their production longer, Globotech is really confident with the new line.
The line looks succesful so they start manufacturing them. However, in the last-minute moments of the manufacturing, the computer suffers minor problems and somehow finds the old program. Not only are the toys given both the new and the old program but they also retain some memories.
Meanwhile, the original Gorgonites, still searching for Gorgon, have a lower battery and are getting weak. They decide to postpone the search for Gorgon and seek energy supply, possibly from Globotech itself.
At the Globotech headquarters, the toys are not released yet, so all the toys are stil at the headquarters just waiting to be sent out to all stores. The new line of toys also features a contest with a Special-Edition Chip Hazard with better durability, strength and features involved. Unknowingly to the people at Globotech, this Special-Edition figure has the memory of the original Chip and he breaks out of his box. He then reprograms each Commando with the original program and stops the manufacturing of the Gorgonites.
Then the Gorgonites v1 arrive at Globotech and finds the new Gorgonites, with lower numbers, hiding from the Commandos. Of course, by this time Globotech is closed for the night so not many employees are there. Archer teaches the v2 Gorgonites how to fight and learn. He then leads them into a small battle with the Commando and they get to a room where they upgrade and hook-up to battle suits and vehicles. But the original Gorgonites are still weak so they are taken to the factory room where they are completely redesigned with the line's plans for the next year. The original traits are there but they are given more ability and toughness. The Archer v1/v3 leads the Gorgonites into battle with the Commando in the Globotech headquarters.
...and that's all I got. For an alternative, the Commandos have all the vehicles and suits so the Gorgonites hitch a ride on one of the trucks that take the new toys to the stores to seek help from either Alan (possibly adult) or similar. The Commando follow them into the city and bring siege upon it with greater numbers than before. The townsfolk realize that only the Gorgonites can stop them.
Meanwhile, the Gorgonites are brought somewhere to make their OWN battle-suits and vehicles to bring the battle to the Commando Elite.
...again, that's all I got...
