were the clone troopers going to shoot jimmy smitts character in the back

before the young jedi comes and cuts them down with his lightsaber? or were they really letting him go?

Looked to me like they were simply telling him to leave. It was only after the young jedi was shot and Bail yelled, "no!" that they turned towards him. Even then, I'm not sure they fired at him.

I always wondered that too since his character isn’t a Jedi, and even though he eventually founds the Rebellion, he is not in direct conflict with the Emperor at this time.
