Did the galaxy assume Anakin died during Order 66?

It seems few people knew Darth Vader's true identity. Do you think everyone thought Anakin died a hero during Order 66? Would it be possible to find statues of him in his honor while Vader was still alive?

Anakin wasn't known to that many people, he wasn't galaxy-famous or anything. So if anyone who knew him was still alive after Order 66, yeah. They probably assumed he went down with the rest of the order.
