Is Palpy a shape-shifter?

I mean in the PT he goes back and forth from human form to ... geriatric burn victim form.

but they never explain this. Or did I just miss that part?

reply

Possibly. The dark side is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be unnatural 

reply

Yes, or perhaps he isn't a shape shifter but merely someone who can cloak his original face using "force veiling"

If he was a true shape-shifter, he'd be able to shift back to his handsome self!

I say that overdosing on the Dark Side deformed him and he couldn't do anything about it.

Perhaps he liked finally being free to show his true form.

reply

His true form was the good looking Palpatine, he never looked like he did before his confrontation with Mace in which he was deformed.

reply

Not according to the actor who played him

Actually, Lucas himself has stated that Palatine was deformed by sith lightning
I have seen were Ian states it a true appearance and with that he either misunderstood or made up his own explanation. It is similar to Leia remembering Padme, having to make up something to rationalize an inconsistency.Their is no precedence or demonstration that validates such an ability. And give me the whole fingernail and teeth thing, he simply added those aspects to make his appearance seem more cartoonishly ghoulish. There are a lot of contradictions that dispel the idea that he always looked like that. Why hasn't he ever demonstrated such an ability prior to that scene? Lucas is not known for subtly, especially withbthe prequels.
Here is an description of force lightning.

I'd like to know what Lucas has to say about it, but can't find it. Got a link?

Force mAsk he was always decayed looking all along

reply

No, he was NOT always decayed looking. He appearance is the result of his fight with Mace Windu, nothing in the film supports that.

reply

Well, in the original Return of the Jedi, we could actually see these dark 'worms' moving around the top of Palpatine's face, as if he was some sort of shape shifter. It was crazy weird. Eventually the Emperor 'worms' were removed for the DVD and Blu-Ray editions if memory serves.

reply

Really? are you sure you are not referring to the superimposed chimp eyes? cos if you're not... i need to see those worms

He never went back and forth. He just wore his hood over his head when talking to people as Darth Sidious, he wasn't burned, you just don't see all of his face. Not sure why you think that happened.

I take it you also don't buy into the "showing his true face" theory?
