Watch movies without spoiling tv series?

I am currently reaching near the end of season 3. Originally I wanted to watch the movies chronologically with the show (being placed at the end of season 5/beginning of season 6), but I really want to check the movies out since I can remember little fragments when I was a little kid.

My question is can I watch the two movies without spoiling anything from the tv series, only being on season 3?

I'm not sure that you'd spoil anything, but I'd just wait until you reach that point. I can't for the life of me remember why The X-Files has been shut down prior to the movie so you'd probably miss that.

It was because The Smoking Man literally set Mulder's files on fire and immolated his office in to ruin.

The movie contains spolers. Hold out pal.

As far as the 1998 movie goes, the short answer is no. It will surely spoil a few details. But overall it's not extensively harmful, so watching it won't ruin totally your series experience. Having said that I suggest you to watch it after Season 5.

The 2008 movie is watchable, since there is probably not anything in it you don't know already. But it is quite a bad movie.
