6.9!!!!


This is a really low rating for what I think is a great film. It is no easy task to create something that series fans and newcomers can enjoy equally and I think they accomplished this.

Abide.

I also consider it a great movie, it fits right well in to the rest of the X-Files stories.
But you know how it is with way to much over the top hardcore fans of a tv-show, they are so stubborn, that they are hard to please.

Agreed again. I couldn't tell you how many times I've been reminded of the following quote while reading the comments of critics on message boards like this who are obviously trying to imply their own superior intelligence in pointing out how they could have done it "better"...when you know they're most likely sitting in front of their computer attempting nothing of their own.

Well, for me it has always been more of a great X Files episode than a great movie. It's really solid though and I too think it deserves more than 6.9, but it's also difficult to imagine how it looked for people who never watched the TV show.

After all, the series used very common and classic themes, with a strong inspiration from sci-fi movies, and it worked very well on this format, but as a movie, seen independently from the show, I guess it had to seem a bit uninspired (or too inspired by other works).
And I can't even try to imagine how Mulder and Scully would look in this for someone who doesn't know a bit about them and their relation at that time.

That's an interesting thing i would like to experience, if it was possible: see the movie like someone who never watched the show.

But i don't think the problem resides with M&S. Everyone on the planet knew who the pair was, even if it never watched an episode. And most knew there was some kind of platonic thing going in the air.

I think most people who dislike the movie are the ones who couldn't figure the plot. And i can't blame them. If i caught this with no background knowlege, i would be scratching my head. Many years after i still find small details of the puzzle.

I agree, i think it deserves atleast a solid 7.5, really entertaining film, didnt take itself too serious, just great entertainment.

It was on the movie channel here in NZ last night.For some reason i sort of kind of liked it when i saw it at the cinema in 98 but seeing it last night and it started at 11:30pm ,i stayed up and watched the whole movie.Loved it.Loved the acting but most of all now since i`m older i loved the directing and cinematography.It still holds up really well and stll looks great.Should be rated higher.

Loved (for the 4th time) it.
