I thought Glen was a great guy, really considerate. Like when they are on the plane to Las Vegas and Julie wants to see Vegas from the air as they are coming in to land, and he says it's ok, she can lean across him to look out the window. I thought that was really nice and shows he really cared about her.
When I said I wanted to be a comedian, they all laughed at me. Well, they're not laughing now!
He even brought her a state-of-the-art CD player and set it up for her. AND he tried to keep her from embarassing herself when she drunkenly started singing "China Girl". That's love.
And he was able to admit his weaknesses, including, but not limited to, planning a wedding. Telling Julia that he was scared that he might screw up the wedding flowers and thus not be able to live with himself showed real maturity.
After she yakked, he pulls up and has the theme to Miami Vice playing so she won't be burdened with talking about the wedding when she's in no state of mind or body to do so. He's also willing to go to the mat with Billy Idol to get his girl.
I don't need you to tell me how good my coffee is. .
He even gave Julia the choice of gambling first or just going straight to the wedding. Plus he decided to stay with Julia 'cause she was with him *before* he made his money. What a mensch!
Did anyone mention he is very respectful to women he refers to them as "Grade A top choice meat" and he invites them to be apart of the Mile High Club.
Also right before he punched Robbie in the nose, he could have easily punched the old guy...but he had enough respect and restraint for the elderly. Top bloke.
He trusted Julia into making the Wedding plans on her own so he wouldn't screw anything up, and he was far too busy working and making money for his future family. But no, shes too busy falling in love with another man. Adam Sandler of all people.
Then when things start to look better for him and hes on a plane ride to Vegas for his beautiful wedding, only to have Adam Sandler show up and steal his woman away. As he tries to win her back, Billy Idol interferes, assaulting Glen, and he gets locked in that smelly small restroom.
:D I actually laughed out loud while reading these good sides of our lovely man Glenn <3 So misunderstood and underrated fellow <3 :D
He also was going to be so drunk at his wedding so that if Julia actually messed up with the flowers he wouldn't even notice <3 And he didn't want Robbie to tell Julia about his little adventures with other women so that he wouldn't lose her - after all she was the top girl for him as he wanted to marry HER of all other women :(
I agree that Glenn isn't really all that bad of a guy and did seem like a very likable person, I was surprised he turned out to be the bad guy towards the end because he didn't really strike me as a bad guy up until the scene he punches Robbie at the bar
Robbie started it though. He's the one who struck the fighting pose, mentioned his previous fighting victories and threatened Glen. Glen just defended himself. Not really a bad guy.
He would even sleep with other women so he could learn new sex tricks to show Julia. Glen went the extra mile to keep their sex life new and interesting!
Glenn may have seemed like a jerk when he punched Robbie, but that punch helped Robbie to become his best self, and Glenn probably knew that that would happen.
Also Glenn was no idiot. He knew that he was not right for Julia, and he knew that Robbie had a crush on Julia. It made no sense at all for Glenn to tell Robbie about sleeping with other women... UNLESS he was doing it to help bring about the end of their relationship so that Julia and Robbie could get together.
______
Every single person on the face of the Earth is unique.
I don't consider Glenn to be the nicest guy you could meet but I didn't think he was as hateable as the rich, preppy boyfriends you see on other movies, I thought Glenn was actually a decent guy until the scene where he punches Robbie at a bar.
