I think that kind of did happen. Holly seemed really impressed when Sammy gave Robbie his credit card at the airport. Also, Sammy was Robbie's best man while Holly was Julia's MoO (if you watch closely at the end when they're walking down the aisle after the wedding, you'll see them both directly next to Robbie and Julia.
