more applicable in the post 9/11 world

I'm not a fan of this movie at all. I actually think it could have/should have been much better than it actually was.

The whole movie plays out just like the Bush Admin. post 9/11.

- one of the things Conrad Brean says is "The war of the future will be a terrorist nuclear war."

- fabricating a war by saying the enemy had WMDs ("suitcase bomb")

there are so many other similarities

BUT this movie came out in 1997..

uh, I know

that's why the title of the thread is "more applicable in the post 9/11 world"

Oh, I'm sorry, I misunderstood you then.
Yes, I agree. I think it's scary. Maybe Bush's team watched the movie and got some ideas from it.

Kudos. Watching it again for the 4th time, every time I see more and more conections to the current dilema. Quite frightening. Maybe they do get ideas from it. One line comes to mind 'Albanian's want to destroy the American way of life'. I love it! And what is this way of life they hate so much? Is it SUV's, fake boobs, extensive waste, polution, poor education, lack of public health care, routing funds to the rich, taxing the poor. Heck, I wouldn't mind destroying THAT way of life either, and to restore the freedom and democracy that we were aiming for back when our forefathers were screwing slave girls and masacaring Native American Indians.

Joon: Did you have to go to school for that?
Sam: No, no, I got thrown out of school for that.

If you'll check out the book on which this movie was based, you'll find that the original story is actually about the Gulf War.

So it could be more relevant than you know.
