reply

Fright Night......Chris Sarrandon at his Sexiest! *sigh*

The best vampire movies:

1. Near Dark
2. The Lost Boys
3. Vampires

There's also 3 that I consider average

Nosferatu
Fright Night
Salem's Lot

The rest suck (I don't really like vampire movies)

Groovy!

I agree with Theatress " Fright Night " from 1985 tops the list for me too . Chris Sarrandon as Jerry Dandridge made an excellent vampire in this one IMPO . I also enjoyed " Fright Night 2 " from 1988 with actress Julie Carmen as Regine Dandridge - Jerry's sister . All great " creature of the night movie " choices on this thread as well lol . Thanks cwg8789 for your subject post .

Fright Night is joke and stupid. Both versions.

Near Dark is my favourite, and the rest in no particular order ...

Dusk Till Dawn
Bram Stoker's Dracula
Underworld
Blade
Vampires

''All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain.

.... Time to die''.

reply

1.Bram Stoker's Dracula
2.Interview with The Vampire
3.30 Days of Night
4.John Caprenter's Vampires
5.Blade

Then I would probably say From Dusk Till Dawn, Blade 2 and Lost Boys. I still haven't seen Near Dark and Salem's Lot, but I heard they were quite good. As for the other vampire movies I have seen, nothing memorable comes to mind. Fright Night was Ok,but forgettable, and Underworld was cool, slick entertainment, but nothing as entertaining or powerful as the other movies I mentionned. I'm still waiting for another GREAT vampire movie to come. 30 days of night was a pretty interesting take on the genre, though, and one of the best vampire movies in a while. Dark, brutal, uncompromising, it was a blast of tension and mayhem. And the acting was surprisingly very decent. Nothing close to Dracula or Interview, of course, but a refreshing vampire movie, it was.

Bill Foster: I'm the bad guy?...How did that happen?

reply

1. BS's Dracula (best story)
2. Salem's Lot (scariest)
3. From Dusk Till Dawn (comedic & cool FX)
4.30 Days of Night (cool animalistic vampires)
5. Blade Trilogy (great action)
6. Underworld movies (same as Blade)

Interestingly comprehensive list, but I note "Pale Blood" isn't on your list. I actually like the movie. It's B grade, but I can look past that.

I really like Carpenter's Vampires, but my favourite would be Vampyr by Carl Dreyer. Coppola's Dracula has a lot of good things about it, but it has this idiotic love story that wasn't in the book, & it cuts out a lot of Stoker's story. It shouldn't be called Bram Stoker's Dracula, because it really isn't.

I also loved Salem's Lot as a kid, but after reading the book, I've started to dislike it. It also hasn't aged well. Its not bad, but it could have been better.

Coppola's Dracula

I thought daybreakers was okay
