In the audio commentary they mention that as a kid he's five and as a adult he's twenty

Tarzan is 20?! Wow! I never thought of that. He did look more like between 29 and 30 to me as an adult, but when he was young as a kid, I thought he look a lot more like a 10 year old.
shareI heard that in the book, Tarzan aged slower than the rest of the apes so they thought he was under-developed. And Kala stood by him and said "If I'm going to be his mother for the rest of my life so be it."

In the books, Tarzan is adopted by the apes of Kerchak at age one. He is about 19 when Jane and the others make their way to the beach near where the aoes are living. He's about 20 by the time he leaves the jungle and follows Jane and her father to Wisconsin.
