In revisting this series for the first time in a while, I'm a bit more confused by this whole part.
Was she made into a hybrid to by the "DNA infector" or did the "DNA infector" knock her up with one?
I feel like the fact that only background theory that part of the movie has comes from a character who may have been somewhat smart might also be insane, leaves a lot of decent questions about how pure Patrick is.

I've posited the theory before that maybe the Patrick was the most suitable for infection, so the "best" DNA went to him. It's also possible that the DNA was designed mostly to infect males (makes sense, a male could have more offspring more quickly) and although Anne was infected, it didn't quite take the right way. So when she finally had sex the resulting offspring was different than what was pumped out by Patrick or Sil from the first one.
In reality, I have a feeling the writers didn't really think far enough ahead to consider the third astronaut. So she bursts open with alien tentacles and dies. Problem solved.
