Fell apart

I'm a big fan of Depalma (I'm thinking about watching Body Double tonight) and also a big fan of Koepp (Apartment Zero is a masterpiece) but Snake Eyes totally fell apart for me. It was like watching a disaster in progress. I think the first 20 minutes were intriguing but that's all it had going for it. I think Sinise was severely miscast due to being extremely obvious as the bad guy from the start. When Cage flatly says "No, you're wrong, there's no way it could have been him" I literally burst out laughing because the bad guy so obviously was Sinise.

I still remember when this film first came out and Cage and Sinise did the late night talk show circuit, a good friend of mine said, "I bet Gary Sinise is the bad guy, he looks like a snake", lol. And, of course, sure enough, Sinise was the bad guy. But, I love this film, and think it is one of De Palma's best!
