A Beautiful Film.

Everything; writing, acting, photography, metaphor.

I like artsy, fartsy stuff.

Agree. A wonderful movie.

Underrated movie...

I have very happy memories of this sweet movie, although it's been a long time. It was released shortly after The Truman Show, was unfairly compared to that much more successful film and died a quick death at the box office, but I was a little obsessed with it at the time. It takes its concept and runs with it, creating a charming and convincing world. Beautiful production values, great performances (why Joan Allen wasn't Oscar nominated for her wonderful work in this is beyond me).

It was better than the Truman Show.

reply

I agree. I like The Truman Show but Pleasantville is the superior film.

reply

Agreed, and it's still true to this day, I find. I re-watch it often and I don't tire of it.

"No Coloreds allowed" That lines sums up this liberal trash of a movie.
