Was this movie responsible for getting Tobey the Spider-Man gig?
The character he plays here seems very Peter Parker-ish, doesn't he?
Tobey's character in the film does seem very Peter Parker-ish, and the scene where David tries to talk to the pretty girl very closely mirrors the scene where Peter tries to talk to MJ in Spider-Man, but I think that's all just a coincidence. Specifically, Sam Raimi wanted to cast Tobey in Spider-Man after he'd seen his performance in the cider house rules.
