Would 'live tv' really be enough to stop them taking the shot?

When Danny is at the blown out window, Chris orders them not to take the shot because it's live on television.

I know that Chris has a no killing policy, and Chicago has a policy of not killing hostage takers but, and I can't remember if Danny had "killed" one of the officers yet, but he was still considered the bad guy at this point. They had a clear shot to end it right there and then.

There have been deaths on tv before, and the internet wasn't as massive back then for kids to search for it. If it isn't enough, then was Chris foolish for not taking the shot (obviously not knowing what we, the viewers know)?

He had not 'killed' the bald officer yet. He did so right after that moment. I think had he taken it to that step, they would have definitely shot him. However, I still see where you're coming from. People's lives were in danger and they had a chance to end it without endangering any of the hostages, I find it hard to believe they'd not take that chance.

I notice your English gets better when you want something.

But cops shoot suspects on camera quite a bit though.
