Don't be silly. The film makes plenty of sense, unless you weren't paying attention at all. It's a retelling of Hitchcock's Notorious. You don't need 3.5 hours to tell that kind of story.

Maybe this would explain what happens to Brendan Gleason's character at the end, as we never see or hear about him after the motorcycle finale.
