So, are you a functional illiterate or just a troII?
shareShe is tiny.
So she even makes Tom Cruise look tall ....... well, ..... kinda tall-ish.
Nobody likes you. Everybody hates you. You're gonna lose. Smile, you f.ck.

She looked great in this...but watch her in "Crash" just 4 years later. She looks 10 yrs older, anorexic and terrible. Shame.

Ugly? She is beautiful!
shareI dislike this movie immensely, but Thandie Newton ugly? She's beautiful. But I notice in a many of Cruise's movies, he seems to work with young, unknown actresses (at the time). At the time they worked with Cruise, all these actresses were pretty much unknowns and their first major role was in the film they did with Cruise. This seems to be a trend with him and his films.
share@hnt_dnl Keep in mind that she had worked with his then-wife Nicole Kidman (in a movie called Flirting), so maybe that helped.
shareThat might have helped when she was cast (in a minor role) in Interview With The Vampire (1994); which in turn might have helped get her role in M:I-2.

@yurenchu Didn't even know about her role in Interview... - I was never really into that movie.
shareI didn't know either, until I read it after I had seen M:I-2. I don't remember her scene in Interview either.

At the time they worked with Cruise, all these actresses were pretty much unknowns and their first major role was in the film they did with Cruise. This seems to be a trend with him and his films. It could also be said of several male actors: Dougray Scott, Colin Farrell, Cuba Gooding Jr., Simon Pegg, Justin Chatwin. Cruise's movies are excellent showcase opportunities for Hollywood to promote new/promising "talent" to the American (or even International) market.
