THAT cliff face stunt..... LIES!!!

On the extras of the DVD of this movie, they try to convince us that Cruise did that stunt with no harness, no green screen and no safety net, 2000 feet above the ground. This is uttter nonsense, the insurance men and lawyers would not let this happen- its just stupid to think we can be fooled like this. An insult to our intelligence!

I watched the extras and they stated pretty clearly that he did the stunt himself, on location and WITH the required safety harnesses. They then removed the harnesses and safety net digitally for the movie.

Just go watch it again, it's all there.

I also seem to remember the DVD extras not being clear about this, and considering how crazy Cruise is (the "knife to the eye" stunt is another example), you can almost believe it. Doesn't make sense, though.

Yes and the IMDB trivia section states precisely the same thing.

The OP was dreaming.

It's a great sequence and beginning to the movie IMO.

actually i am watching mi2 right now on 'Sony Pix' channel, which made me to post this thread.

I am the one who originaly put the 'Famous rock climbing' trivia in mi2 trivia page.

I think back in 2000-2003 there was one program in 'Axn channel' on paparzie photographeres. One episode got my attention, that featured a cameraman specialised on movies. He was the only guy who managed to get on the closed high security location of mi2. (Even tom cruise pointed on him when he snaped some clips with flash)Those photographs showed Tom on saftey rigs/ cables.
-
Also when i researched on it (back in 2000s) i came to know the stunts were fone by 2 seperate doubles. The climbing done by 'Ron Kauk' and the jumping by tom's usual double 'Keith Campbell'.
-
The closeup sequence are done by cruise, but the original opening long shots, and the jumps were done by the doubles. Tom can own zero or 5% credit to that risky stunt.

I was shocked when 'Sony Pix' channel showed it's trivia notes (between the 1min promos). One which features 'Famous rock climbing sequence' was copied exactly from imdb's section made by me.
Strange it took these much years to come back to it's original writer.

If we stay the course, we are dead! WE ARE ALL DEAD!

I think tom cruise did the stunt himself and used a safety harness.

Guys, you're worrying for nothing. Xenu had several Thetans standing by to aid Tom if he needed it. He was never in any danger.

That is just awful. If filmmakers start to use exaggerations in order to get more people to watch their movie, what's this world coming to?

Proteus122 - that was hella funny thank you!!!!
