Kid got passed up on Oscars

Okay, not that great of a movie, but man, that kid can act. Should've gotten an Oscar.

Yea I knew they were holding him back on full house.Maybe he would have gotten more attention if they had released the movie in october or something.

If you were half as good an actor as him,you would be doing well, you could have sworn he was actually autistic.

reply

What the hell. Why would you call an autistic child a loser. or a child for that matter. You must have a real problem.

I've just seen that movie today again...and I really like it...and I really think that the Kid acted amazing...and I really don't think he's a loser...he played his role incredibly good for his age...I couldn't act like that...

Don't sweat the trolls, he's been reported.

Absolutely agreed. MIKO HUGHES was the reason to watch this movie. I was riveted by his acting all the way through! I was lucky enough to "speak" to him after the movie came out and he seems to be a very intelligent young man. I hope he makes it big!

Tbh, every one will find me harsh juding a kid based on his acting, but that was the worst acted annoying roll I've ever seen in my life. There are so many more talented child actors and he's clearly not one of them.

For some reason I never liked this kid. I know he's supposed to play a authistic kid, but having a friend who works with authistic kids and having seen them a few times myself, I can say that he does a very very bad job portraying autism....

Miko Hughes has doing pretty good act since 'Pet Sematary' and "Wes Craving Nightmare on Elm Street",

He was also awarded Best Performance In a Feature Film Leading young Actor - Miko Hughes Mercury Rising on The Youth in Film Association

I definitely believed he was autistic! I've seen quite a few films/TV shows where the actor is attempting to be autistic, unsuccessfully. Few can really pull it off, this kid did. Reminded me a lot of my sons. (Who have autism.)

haley joel osment can act. dakota fanning can act. this is not an oscar caliber performance. not even a "special oscar" i used to imitate the kids in the special ed class quite well myself but i never got any awards... i guess because was offensive and wrong. want a good autism performance? rain man. granted this kid has nowhere near the acting skills of hoffman...but that was kinda my point to begin with. he's not oscar worthy

also, james coburn won the academy for best supporting actor. did you even see affliction? way better than a kid grunting and throwing fits. i suppose its tha academys fault for not having "best autistic performance"... you know what would be awesome??? if they did one of those montages that they always do but this time show clips from rain man, forrest gump, this movie, of mice and men, whats eating gilbert grape( THAT was a good performance), etc etc and set it to "lets get retarded in here" by the black eyed peas. now THAT would be *beep* sweet.

"let me hear your voice" by Catherine Maurice has an important part in it where she states that each autistic person is different... And in every way. Strengths, weaknesses, speech, learning, everything is different. Screeching tantrums, biting, and hitting can be common among autistics until u can get in there to teach them to speak about their feelings instead of screeching, hitting, or biting.

Remember that when attempting to compare.contrast actors portraying autistics.

Miko did an awesome job at looking out of the corners of his eyes to look at the spinning toy car tire. That right there is a typical autistic symptom, one he did well.
