Deleted/Missing Ending Scene?

I remember seeing this on TV years ago and the closing sequence was Simon looking at his little booklet of people and things and it had a picture of Bruce Willis in it saying "Art = Friend" and the closing shot is a close up view of the picture in Simon's hand as he hugs Bruce Willis. I bought the DVD recently and the ending is different. I wonder why the ending was changed for the DVD or that ending was used in the TV versions. It seems better and more fitting rather then just hugging him out of the blue. Still, an enjoyable movie mostly.

What is the point in having a well-researched piece about an autistic boy if you are going to throw it away in the last scene?

The boy in question would never in a million years look at Bruce Willis all doe-eyed and then hug him. He's autistic.

Not sure if you have any family members who are autistic, but you couldn't me more wrong.

Each person who has that condition has their own strengths. Just because they are that way doesn't mean they are totally incapable of all everyday emotions/functions
