Actually, in the 3rd one with Samuel L. Jackson, he has a hangover and they say he's a step away from being a full blown alcoholic.

True but the only film I can remember him being shown drinking a lot was 16 Blocks. I guess he likes those roles.

No, but they smoke a lot of dope (taken from drug dealers, naturally) with their fire and national guard buddies.

I don't know what they do now but if anyone here is familiar with the works of Joseph Wambaugh, there used to be a dedicated bar for LE in most neighborhoods.

Cops see us at our worst. Our absolute worst. Dead and alive. In order to deal, a lot of them used to have to hit their version of "Cheers" at shift end just to bitch and get it all out, with a drink in their hand. For some, a drink became many.

I don't know about these days, with increased public scrutiny and a lowered tolerance for any DUI avoided by LE association.

Times have changed. I really don't know how LE deals with what they see now, but it would drive a lot of us crazy within a year, or at least to strong drink or drugs, prescription or not.
