Glad this wasn't made today
It would be full of token POCs. Totally unrealistic for Tolkien's worlds.
shareIt would be full of token POCs. Totally unrealistic for Tolkien's worlds.
shareDon’t worry, we have Amazon’s tv series for that.
shareWell the upcoming tv series shows what it would look like if it was made today. If you want to be faithful to the books the movies did them right with the casting and if you have a problem with that you’re a racist.
shareEowyn would take the central role, played by Jodie Turner-Smith.
shareBullshit, the Tolkien estate has made it clear to anyone using Tolkien's material, that is has to be accurate to the source.
shareThat's great to hear! It really sucks when modern politics changes things! I wish studios would just stick to the source and not try to inject modern day bullshit! If they want to do something like that, they need to write their own stories, but it seems new ideas are in short supply these days.
shareI'm hoping this phase eventually becomes so unpopular that Hollyweird dumps it. I mean, how much money do they have to lose before they get the hint that nobody outside their bubble likes "woke" films?
shareTo necramonium: If that were true, the abominable, bloated “versions” of The Hobbit would never have happened. There would have been (yet another) Hobbit movie, but not this “re-imagined” crap. Legolas in The Hobbit?! Really?! Prithee, explain this to me. Really, I expect your reply.
I of course assume you have read The Hobbit. It’s a slim volume, about 1.5 inches thick in paperback, at most, about one-fifth the size of the 3 editions of The Lord of the Rings combined; yet it grew to THE SAME RUNNING LENGTH as the theatrical release of LOTR.
Lord help us if Jackson, flailing for some kind of exoneration after his failures at this and The Lovely Bones essays The Silmarillion. He lacks the wit.
To this day, the old Rankin-Bass animated TV version of The Hobbit is my go-to for that story as a movie. While not perfect, as if leaves out Beorn and the Arkenstone, it gets the tone right & respects the source material. It even includes a lot of the songs from the book!
shareI never understood why anyone enjoyed watching gay Ewoks cry for 3 1/2 hours.
shareThere are no Ewoks in this story, not that you care. You labor under the misimpression that you are witty.
You are half-right.
"I'm twice as tall as half of you and half as short as twice of you."

I recommend the full movie. The best lampooning of a show I have ever seen.
Me too! At least back in the early 2000s, Hollywood [mostly] respected people's wishes when it came to story-telling. Now all they can do is shove a ton of minorities in that can't act, and use a sub-standard script to tell a shitty story.
I do recall some whining back then about the lack of black people in the movie, and honestly, I don't give a shit. You don't see me whining about the lack of white people in movies like "Phat Girlz" or "The Preacher's Wife."
Good point, glad we got it just in time.
