Seriously. Can anyone answer why the director thought making the flames and fire GREEN of all colors would be a good idea??

Watch the movie again. This time, listen carefully for the references to the Russians' "Green Flame Project". I'm glad you asked the question or I might not have been looking for the answer when I watched the movie.
