During the finale of the film they repeatedly use a metallic percussion sound over and over again, i'm pretty sure its lifted from another movie but i can't remember which one. I know theres some terminator 2 score in there, when the t100 is killing t800 but thats not the son i'm after.

I'm gonna have to watch to see what you are talking about. I definitely remember the terminator sound in the finale on the freight ship. I love the knock off song at the end credits "it's a knock off". Said his voice was a knock off in the lyrics too, that song always had me laughing. I hated that flick when I watched it the first time, after the second time, I saw more of the humour, and appreciated the action definitely. It became one of my favs.
