Great Visuals

Ok, so the story isn't exactly high art, and the character portrayls wont get any oscars - but i was impressed by the use of the camera - "yeah so?" i hear you say? Well to be honest Jean Claude Van Damme has never been one to do seriously thought provoking movies - but to give credit this film is quite fun. Having watched it last night seeing that British terrestrial television offers nothing but boring gardening programs or news specials - and dire soaps - so its nice when they put on a "first viewing". Unfortunately there would be no such first viewing this evening - only B movie mayhem - and quite frankly Knock Off delivered. The story is quite smart - if not a tad rushed - the amount of twists and turns does put you off. But what I did think was great were the visuals. Im talking about the camera angles from the quite cool visual viewpoints - such as Jean Claude looking in the box of clothing and another image pops up in the corner showing what hes actually looking at. Or the endless "barrel to target" shots that were taken - even his fight sequence from different angles put his action in a cool perspective, if a little unrealistic. Finally to finish I actually enjoyed Van Dammes performance, he was cheeky but loveable - and [shock]a Rob Shneider film that I actually find him amusing!
The bonus was that the women were all seriously H O T.

I agree with your favorites, except Knock Off paled in comparison when I went to see it expecting another Bloodsport or Sudden Death. I went to see this, Blade, and The Lion King with my karate instructor and some of the other people in our class, and I liked two of the three movies. And those two movies involved singing cartoon animals and black leather-wearing vampires that listen to techno while killing other vampires. But I guess 2 out of 3 ain't bad.

Also, I don't know if there's a single movie that has Rob Schneider in it and is actually good. I used to think Surf Ninjas was good, but it's kind of cheesy now. If it has him in it, there's a good chance it's gonna be goofy.

Alright, I thought of some. He was in Necessary Roughness, which is actually good if I remember right. Also, Judge Dredd is a good Stallone movie, and Down Periscope was a good naval submarine comedy. So I guess the fact that I didn't like Knock Off isn't Rob Schneider's fault. Maybe him and Van Damme just don't mix.

I give it to them.

Agreed, the cinematography is awesome, with it's bizarre angles and camera movements. This film was doing things that wouldn't be seen in Western Cinema for another 5 years.

I agree, the camera movements & little pop-up shots (when VD is looking in box & we see what he's looking at) were the best things about this movie. In my opinion, its 1 of VD's worst movies but the visual style is great.

Yeah I think the cinematography was a little overdone it did keep you a little more interested though.

My thoughts also. I thought I was the only one that enjoyed this movie because of the visuals.
