I was a young kid when I saw this in the theater and that Siskel & Ebert reference went right over my head.

Rewatched the movie recently and enjoyed the little jab from Emmerich at the famous critic duo. Nice touch.

A decently fun movie despite all the criticism.

I knew the reference but I was a teenager when the movie came out.

I enjoyed the scene towards the end of the movie when Gene finally tells off the Mayor, giving him an emphatic ‘thumbs down’. 🙂
