What results in its failure is its name .

They shouldn't have made it as a Godzilla movie , just needed to change a name and then it would be the greatest monster movie ever . The 2014 version is really A PIECE OF *beep* ! By the way , is its box office that awful ? It should have at least one sequal ,there are so many movies having sequals although they are in low quality and have a box office which is not that bad .

I know they use this same monster at least once in the early 2000s Godzilla movies.

It was just a stock disaster movie ripping off Alien movies and Jurassic Park.

The film was badly reviewed which contributed to the lack of movement on any sequels til the rights expired.

The filmmakers openly trashed the original Godzilla simply because it was silly to watch and I don't think they should've done that because it isn't reassuring to fans it's in good hands and just attracting angry words it's kind of like if you made an OK remake of The Godfather and said it's better than the original, it's one thing if it's coming from fans or critics but when it's coming from the filmmakers themselves it's not so much inducing expectations as inducing red faces.

Absolutely. It wasn't that bad of a movie but it wasn't a Godzilla movie and shouldn't have been marketed as.

If you take out that really bad Madison Square Garden scene with all the baby Godzillas, you have a fun popcorn giant monster film. About 7/10. But that scene goes on for about 20 minutes and features some terrible CGI. So I give it a 6/10 overall.
