Hayek is too hot to play Frida!

If you look at actual pictures of Frida Kahlo, she's pretty homely. Hayek on the other hand is probably one of the sexiest women alive (in my humble opinion). So, the whole thing seemed unreal to me. Why not get an average looking actress to play an average looking woman? They try to make Hayek look unattractive by giving her the unibrow and everything, but I was like, nahh she still looks really hot. I couldn't take it seriously. Oh yeah, Hayek overacts the whole thing. She just tried too hard and it didn't seem natural. Hayek is another one of those moderately OK actresses who made it to the big legues because she's really hot. I was also wondering about historical accuracy. Did Kahlo really have sex with Trotsky and Josephene Baker!?

Frida Kahlo was beautiful though in comparison to today's mass marketed botoxed women she would seem odd. Hayek had an amazing resemblance to her, which should be an indicator of her beauty. As to hotness, Frida clearly had bags of charisma and bravado that drew people to her. So she probably was considered 'hot' by many then.

As to your final Q: it's based on her biography so the answer is yes ...

I thought they uglied Hayek up pretty good in the movie. You're right about her acting; it was inconsistent at best. I loved the movie anyway. An interesting side note; Sophia Coppola was interested in playing the role of Frida a few years before this.

As Far as physical appearance, Coppola would probably be more appropriate- imho.

I thought Hayek did a bang up job and look and played the part perfectly.
