he sucks at acting, this movie is kept alive with hillarious cameo's.
chris farley in particular, G SEEEEEVEEEAAAAAAHN.
also the only funny thing chevy chase did in the last 20years.
and as much personal trouble making beer league caused artie lange, he should have just watched this movie again and seen that he's not really cut out for acting.
norm and artie, funny as they are, movies just isnt their medium, IMHO.
What makes Norm's performance work is the deadpan.
How he calls the cops and goes "Hi, Real Cops" and "Are those Prostitutes. I mean, who are those women?"
These lines wouldn't be funny with anyone else doing them. Norm is great in this movie, although me might not work for other movie roles.
The cameos are great though - Farley, Sandler - even Fred Wolf!

couldn't agree more-- I just rewatched it for the first time since I watched it in a theater 4,676 years ago and thought, "am I laughing at ... Chevy Chase?"
