It's an after school special disaster movie
Or a Lifetime movie. Some parts are so damn cheesy.

shareMy husband and I loved it.
It never took off because it was up against Armageddon with the still-popular Bruce Willis. But the point of Deep Impact is how people face death. It shows a variety of people facing it in different ways. The fellow who went blind was given some really stupid dialogue, yes. And I always laugh when Duvall says something about his sons' mother, "when she was still alive." "Naw, dude! That happened when she was dead!"
But most of it was pretty good. I loved how they had a black President without making a big thing about it. That stupid girl the Hobbit guy was crazy about was incredibly immature, but some girls ARE immature. Maximillian Schell was fantastic, as was Vanessa Redgrave. And it may look cheesy for the girl's parents to just look into each other's eyes, but trust me, I had to bury my husband last year, and just looking into his beautiful eyes would be precisely what I'd be doing were I in their shoes.
