I frist saw this movie a few years back. I have always loved it. I think the part when the little girl hides the nickel is hilarious. I'm glad you enjoyed this movie too.

reply

i absolutely love this movie! i think vaughn is a great actor. Everyone who i know who watches this likes it.

I recently saw it & enjoyed it. Even though I can see why it went straight to video, I thought the actors did a good job. Vince Vaughn has great chemistry with children, and both female co-stars were sympathetic even though their parts were less developed.

reply

It didn't go straight-to-video. It was only in theaters for like 3 weeks though. This movie is a huge factor as to why Vince Vaughn is among my top two favorite actors.

reply

i saw it like 5 years ago when vince wasn't that famous. i think it was made before lost world...but i dunno.

i liked it a lot and glad to see that his talent's paying off.

I also recently saw this movie on Bravo. I'm a fan on Vince Vaughn but have only seen him in comedies besides the remake of Psycho. I think he did very well and I think everyone else in the movie did a great job too. The acting was great, the plot was good and it was just an all around good movie. This is one of those movies you see in the movie store or see on tv and have never heard of it and then when its over you can't believe you've never heard of it before. If I had high expectations before I saw it, I could have been dissapointed but I recommend this to anyone who hasn't seen it.

i saw parts of the same exact thing you saw. it was in the afternoon around 2pm i think. i saw it on cinemax years ago. i forgot how many funny scenes it has.

I just watched it on Bravo as well and liked it a lot. I think Joey Lauren Adams is great in everything and I like Vince Vaughn as well. I'm curious-- what did people think of the ending??

you see i disagree with all of you. my uncle gave me all these VCDs for christmas including this one and i watced it because i'm a fan of joey lauren adams and vince vaughn but this was pure awful i had to switch it off half way through it was another one of those gay films about a man coping to be a single parent since his wife left him.

reply

and I disagree with you, its a very underrated film. There is many worse than this.

reply

I saw it yesterday on the italian tv and i think that the story is nice but the movie is boiring. everything happens so slowly... but, well, the story isn't bed.

reply

I haven't seen it yet, but I am hoping too. I think I'll like it because I love Vince Vaughn.

reply

i agree, this was not a good movie.
props to the actors who more than held their own but the writing was AWFUL! the timeline of events was so screwy, i relize that telling a whole story in 2 or so hours presents problems, but cmon...
JLA goes from assaulting VV's car with dog food to completely flippin the script and creating a playdate on the horseranch, in seriously 15 seconds.

I DO CROSSWORD PUZZLES IN PEN CUZ IM JUST THAT CONFIDENT

One of my fav movies..I just caught it on tv today..one of Vince Vaughn's best performances

I too didn't get to see the end and was soooo disappointed! Could you tell me what happened? Did he take the job? Did he get back with his wife, stay with the vet's assistant or go with no one? I loved the movie - haven't been much of a Vince Vaughn fan before, but he was great in this as well as the other actors. The little boy was excellent! I have thought about it ever since seeing it and wondered what happened in the end. I think that is a sign of a really good movie - when it sticks with me for days and I think about various scenes again and again. Vince Vaughn should do more dramas!

Kate took Cal and fled to Cincinnati where her sister lives, but forgot to bring Mr. Flatso. She left a message on his answering machine for him to Fed-Ex Flatso, but he drove to Cinci instead. On his way down, he called Dallas and informed them that he would not be taking the job. He returned to whatever town he'd been living in, only on the return trip, he brought Cal with him. (Kate discovered that motherhood just wasn't for her.) The movie ended with Beth calling and setting up a playdate where Cal could come over and ride the horse.

I saw this movie umpteen years ago at some cheesy motel, and only caught the first 1/4 of it before I had to leave. I bought it on EBay last week so I could see the whole thing, and absolutely loved the movie. I think it deserved a much stronger rating than PG-13 due to the numerous lovemaking scenes, and definitely would not recommend it as a 'Friday night family time film'. However, it's a good flick to watch with the spouse after the kids have gone on off to bed.

I saw "Clay Pigeons" before I saw "A Cool Dry Place" and thought I would never watch another Vince Vaughn movie. He was so creepy scary in "Clay Pigeons"
When I finally watched "A Cool Dry Place", I was thought it was wonderful. Vaughn is a very fine actor.

I thought the ending was ok.

reply

I thought it was great ... Vince Vaughn really pulled off a great non-comedic role.

reply

It was actually the first movie I saw of his. Pretty good. Cutest kid EVER!
