Archers Cameo?

Did any other Brits notice this? I did, only yesterday though((yes I still watch this movie, and I'm proud of it!)). While one of the mice is tuning the radio before the 'flip, flop, fly' song the archers theme is played.
I laughed!

"Groovy!"

reply

I'm not a brit, but I can tell you it was an open reference to that popular radio show.

"Whatever are you doing in such a nasty place?"

reply

You're right, I noticed that too. The theme from "The Archers" is played for a short time when the radio is first turned on by the rats. Being a Brit, I would know this, but I think the reference might have escaped most other viewers (as much else in this film). Well spotted!

A few months ago there was an article in Smithsonian Magazine about the BBC, which included a sidebar about The Archers. Not being British, I knew nothing about the radio show but read about it with interest anyway. Since I've never heard the show, I'm unfamiliar with the theme and most definitely missed the reference. Now that I know about The Archers, I can listen for the theme the next time I watch the movie. So I'm glad somebody brought it up!

I've never listened to the Archers, but I recognised the tune. I think everyone in Britiain knows that tune, you're born with it embedded in your brain!
