Was this story taken from a 80s cartoon?

I cant remember too much, but when i was a kid watching this movie i remember faintly of a cartoon made in the late 80's that felt a lot like this. But it was in the viewpoint of foxes. The farmers are *just the same*... i think the name of it was "A Winter Story" or something like that.. they were hunting a turkey.

Are both of them based on a book or something? It just feels so similar. Maybe i'm just silly, both of them are based in the UK i think.. so maybe farmers just look the same :P

A new film coming out called "Mr fantastic fox" looks similar as well.. i guess films of animals revolting against humans is a big storypoint in many books and movies.

The story was taken from The great escape

Fantastic Mr Fox was originally a Roald Dahl book. The same writer who wrote Matilda, George and The Giant Peach, and Charlie and the Chocolate factory (all of which were children's books before they were movies).

Chicken Run was an original screenplay, meant as a parody of the Great Escape. In fact originally it used the Great Escape's soundtrack, but they decided to go with an original score in the end.

As for the other movie, I don't know about that one.

It heavily borrows from this Russian story:
