not really because he is 'trapped' and cannot sense or feel, just merely observe as an outsider would.

shareI just saw this movie. Lotte and Craig were not trapped inside Malkovich. Normally, people could go in and be JM for 15 minutes; with senses and control. But at that certain time (before midnight on a particular day), the old people went in and got control of JM while he was ripe. They get to stay there and have senses and control, all of them at once. But Craig went in after midnight and got trapped in the subconscious of the next vessel, the little girl, without escape, without senses, without control, forever. Just stuck in there, watching and listening. It's really sh!tty. That's my understanding of it. Correct me if I'm wrong.

It wasn't the subconscious level, obviously. The thing about it was just that he was trapped. I'm not sure if he could still feel like the others felt in Malkovich, but I doubt it, since the old guy described it as hell. Imprisoned. But maybe he just thought it was bad enough to never be able to leave the body of the "vessel".
I wonder, how did Lester know what happened if you entered the door after midnight? Could it have happened to him, once?

Lotte had been told by Lester that if someone went in right after midnight, they'd be trapped in the next body's subconscious. And if Lotte knows Craig is in there, she's probably gonna have Maxine bottle-feed, right?

shareSchwartz got the worst of it no doubt. He's trapped in hell where he can't feel or control anything of the new vessell, he can't even blink and he has to observe Maxine and Lotte together, who both abandoned him. Seems like Maxine made the most of the situation.
