1999: A Benchmark Year For Film And TV. What Do YOU Think?

There have been many great years for films/TV in the past, but 1999 stands out as a year that saw at least 6!!! releases that were not just very good - they were groundbreaking and wildly original. Their influence can still be felt now, many years later, across nearly all genres. Plus there was an unusual amount of high quality releases in 1999 that became instant classics, as well as a large number of generally very good films.

I've tried to compile a list of 1999's 40 most important films/TV-shows (with a personal comment for numbers 1-6):

Indeed they were. Incidentally, around '99 was also the point by which all studios had been taken over for good by huge corporations - which would lead to significant changes as to what kind of films studios would make henceforth. I think I agree with you. This movie and David Lynch's "Mulholland Drive" were 2 of the most influential movies from this period.
I think this time period was the "last stop" for originality in movies.
