Did Sean and Oliver not get along on the set?

I've read a lot of things about these two and they don't seem to like each other very much. For example, Oliver Stone called Sean a "f**king loser" and Sean said:

Discussing Oliver Stone: "I think that his basic pig nature keeps him from doing the best of what he ought to do. And it keeps him from being someone I want to run into."

So, they obviously didn't say these things before the movie otherwise they wouldn't have done the movie but did they fight a lot on the set or something?

I read that quote by Sean Penn in Entertainment Weekly.

I often get the feeling that Oliver Stone isn't to proud of this movie and some problems happened on the set to this movie. I read in an interview that Joaquin Phoenix said that Oliver Stone didn't know what he was doing or something like that. Maybe since this movie didn't turn out to be to successful Penn and Stone disliked each other or something like that. I doubt we'll ever see a special edition for this movie. I personally enjoy this movie for its Twlight Zone styling.

I find it interesting how Val Kilmer and Oliver Stone seem to get alone so well considering they are known as two of the biggest A-holes in Hollywood.

maybe thats why they get along?

You know, from what you get from the media and all, I'd say there is a lot of truth to what they both said.

Sean Penn, while he can be kool in some movies (U-Turn), seems to a bit of a Dick....the Team America situation and stuff
