stupid

I like this movie and all, but one thing doesn't make sense to me. If both Grace and Bobby wanted to leave, why didn't they just take her jeep instead of killing Jake for the money? They didn't have to go through all the trouble. It's too stupid.

she wanted the money; he wanted the money

It's MONEY!

reply

Yeah I know, but I mean, at the end, Bobby really just wanted the car, he even offered to kill Grace for just $200 so he could get his car and get the hell outta there, so if he was so desperate, he could have just taken her jeep.

reply

hmm

"I really do have love to give. I just dont know where to put it."

reply

the reason they went through all that was because Bobby wanted to get money for his car, and get a piece of J-Lo's sweet ass! what would you do? Kill grace for $200 bucks or kill her husband and take all that money and J-lo? I'd kill the husband, take the money and screw J-Lo for the rest of my life.

reply

yea but he didn`t mean that for real about the 200 dollar, he said it because nolte would have shot him otherwise... and thats the reason he is faking death on the floor while Lopez is pretending she killed him.

reply

It's not just a car. It's a sixty-four-and-a-half Mustang convertible.

THIS is the only correct answer!!!

I believe they took the money because penn needed it to pay the guy he owed money to, this isnt very likely as they had a bit of an argument :P but i think they took it because they needed it to start a new life for themselves, how else would they have made a living? penn is in trouble because he owes money so its a reasonable assumption that he isnt the wisest of people with money. also jake needed to die because he would have known who took his wife/daughter and maybe would have gone after penn, also unlikely...

Sorry but I'm in the middle of watching the movie at this very moment. I had to jump on check and see if anyone had a decent answer to that very question: why not take the jeep? Even if they did need/want the money, Bobby's car is totally beside the point. Unless there's something else in the trunk he needs but, so far, it doesn't seem like anyone has mentioned that as a possibility.

It seems like a good movie but not great so I guess I understand now why it's so "under-rated." The photography is excellent though, as well as the soundtrack.

Because it's a Mustang built in June '64!

Just watched this movie. Hadn't heard anything about it. Excellent noir example. Re stupid: Bobby needed to be in charge of the situation. He'd expended a lot of pain on getting his beloved car back as evidenced by his comments about the age and type of vehicle to Darrell. Grace had to revenge herself and still needed to use Bobby for whatever she perceived she needed.

reply

I think they became so greedy because of the "U Turn Effect" The U Turn effect is basically when you start to become stressed out and insane. They could have just left, but they became greedy and dangerous people as they became closer. Bobby and Grace wanted to leave yet they still wanted the money. If they didn't take it and left they would have nothing.

I saw this movie because it was 7.99 at best buy and it had Sean Penn in it. This is an overall good flick ladies and gentle man. This is one of the few movies to actually have a physical effect on me. The way it was shot and edited really made this film quite tense and rather exhausting to watch. This by no means is an insult to it. One question though...what was up with Liv Tyler in the bus station?

You all voted for George Bush and you killed Jesus! LOL

Bobby NEEDED the money! Didn't that gangster tell him that he wanted, like, $30,000 the following day or he'll have his henchmen cut off a finger for each day he didn't get his money?

That's NUMBERWAAAAAANG!!!!!!!!!
