Besides Avery and Max, you gotta admit Jay Mohr and the student doctor are great friends. I mean, they agree to help kidnap a mobster and mutiliate him because they were tricked into believing their buddy's sister/other buddy's girlfriend was kidnapped. I don't think my mates would do the same for me if my sister was kidnapped, even if it were just an act.

As a side note, were they just going to let Charlie go after the kidnapping matter was resolved?

it does seem like they were planning to just let him go after they got elise back. though i don't see how they thought they could do that and get away with it, since he knew all of their names and didn't look like he was kidding when he said he was gonna kill them. (fortunately for them, i think he changed his mind over the course of the evening, but still...) like charlie says, they "didn't think this through too good."
