Just some things I still need help on...

At the end of the movie we discover Max and the sister were in on the ones responsible for the fake kidnapping. What we see his Max talking to the two goons and we hear they (the goons) took care of Avery's dept w/ Anton (the unseen bookie).

My question is who were they to begin w/ to take care of a rich kids debt, especialy if they had no intention to kidnap anyone to begine with?

If they were the ones who started the kdnapping from before w/ the intent of getting 2 mil. for just paying off some rich kids 50 grand debt I would nave understood more but it seems like Max just finds these two guys and it turns out they took care of it already and then the plan starts to hatch.

This confused me too, but my guess is that they're the types of guys who do this routinely, like the guy in "Rounders", who buys Edward Norton's (Worm) debt to John Malkovich (Teddy KGB). If you haven't seen that, btw, and liked films like "21", "Casino" or this one, you should check it out. Matt Damon is great in it.

I'm also assuming they must know Charlie, since his lawyer finds out what they did so quickly. The cat was probably Elise's idea, so they could keep saying "She", as in "She's okay". I still want to know if they got a finger in the beginning, or just told Charlie that they did. What a great, though somewhat confusing flick!

Man, I haven't seen Rounders in so long I don't even remember the guy your talking about. I'll defenitly watch it again though, I loved that movie. Still knowing there are certain guys that just buy off debts now... I might just go hit some casinos. LOL

I've thought of that myself! I love poker...and am pretty good at it. As for the guy in Rounders, it's Michael Rispoli, called "Grama". He was in "The Rum Diary" ("Sala"), who takes fledgling journalist, "Paul Kemp"/Hunter Thompson (Johnny Depp) under his rather corrupt and smelly wing. There's not much gambling in the the latter, except with their lives and livers, but it's a wild ride!

This is old so it's likely you won't ever read it but.....seriously ShannonTriumphant? "The cat is probably Elise's idea, so they could keep saying 'she', as in 'she's okay'."

All the times we see the gangsters saying "she" it's only a red herring for the audience's benefit. It's so we think they're talking about Elise, when in fact they're just talking about feeding a cat.

At no point in the movie does anyone else get mislead by them referring to the cat. The cat is not part of the plan, and therefor is nobody's idea. It was only meant to be a "gotcha" moment for the audience.
