Does not work as 'satire'

This movie went a bit too far in so many aspects, it's actually more annoying than anything else.

You have your typical tropes you have to shake your head at:

- Women are SUPER Mary Sue-level good at things MEN are traditionally good at - math, piloting, abstract thinking, hand-to-hand combat, and so on
- Women don't get PUNCHED the same way men do
- Unisex showers (when can we get RID of this trope, it can't happen as long as men and women are still men and women - men would get boners and would have to use excess energy just to control their actions because the urges would get stronger - it just doesn't work! Also, women might also get moist from other sources than the showers, even if they used the showerheads to try to.. well, you know what I mean)

This unisex shower-trope is SO ridiculous and thoughtless, and probably stems from the utopistic 'gender equality' thought that is never fully thought-out. For true gender equality, women have to be 50% of the homeless, the ditchdiggers, the sewer and garbage workers, oil rig personnel, installing electrical wires/equipment and doing maintenance on really tall towers and pylons - you get the idea. Women should have to pass the same requirements when entering a security or policing job or a fireman job as men, and so on.

Women's easy access to sex would either have to be diminished, or men's lack of access to sex would have to be fixed and then expanded, until both have equal amount of easy access to it, or neither have more access to it than men generally do, or whatever.

There are SO many gender 'discrepancies', it blows my mind that people try to bruteforce superficial 'equality' tropes into movies and call it a day. Sigh.

- Black man CRACKING a whip on a white man.

Can you think of this with races swapped? Can you even imagine ANYONE being brave enough to do it? I don't think there is a nazí psycho in the world that would DARE make a movie where this kind of scene happens, but somehow it's OK if a black man does it to a white man?

What exactly happened to the equality here? So it's perfectly logical to have Unisex showers (talk about boner galore - women would simply refuse to shower this way), but equality between races is UNTHINKABLE?

In any case, these are just a few typical nitpicks, what I really wanted to say that this movie 'tries' to be satirical, but as it goes completely OVERBOARD on the spectacle and takes the story a BIT too seriously without many hints to the 'satire' side, it doesn't really work as satire.

Even the more intelligent people, after watching this movie, express confusion as to whether it was meant as a satire or a serious story, because it's presented as BOTH, but the 'serious story' gets way more screentime.

The problem is, the 'satire', such as it is, is pushed to the sidelines and streteched very thin, while the pompous jingoistic nationalism-fascism message is in the forefront with bold fonts and huge explosions and spectacle.

This means that whatever satire there is to be found in the little 'ad clips' that are not as good as in Robocop, there's no balance between 'satire' and 'simple shoot'em up-movie'.

The movie works as an 'action blockbuster' type thing TOO WELL for it to have enough satire left to make people realize, ooh, they are not being serious about it.

There is simply something MISSING, and the missing parts are filled with 'story taking itself too seriously', so despite the 'glittery bimbos' in main roles and all the Mary Sues (is there a woman in this movie that is not one? Even the sports is played with mixed genders, which is ABSOLUTELY ridiculous), despite the heavy-handed militaristic nationalism and xenophobia, despite the 'clever, over-the-top TV ads', the audience never REALLY gets strong enough dose of 'satire' for the movie to work as 'satire'.

This movie works TOO WELL as 'turn your brains off for some bug-shootfest with Mary Sues', and NOT ENOUGH as 'clever satire'.

It does have those elements, but they are too thin, too lightweight, too 'sidelined' to be effective enough contrasted to the super heavy-handed, visual spectacle that is the main story that you get more immersed in compared to the little satirical elements peppered on the side.

The satire is a 'meaningless side dish', the 'blockbuster spectacle story' is the main course. For the satire to work, it would have to be the other way around, or at least equal.

Funny for a movie that shows us 'equal sports' and 'equal showers', but still doesn't dare show us truly equal moments, like a white man equally lashing a black man. Wouldn't it be more equal and interesting to see at least BOTH instead of it ALWAYS being shown only this one way?

Just saying..

This movie's other fault is that maybe BECAUSE it is supposed to be 'satire', the story and the whole movie in itself is allowed to be SUPER SHALLOW without saying anything meaningful. The whole thing is as boring as watching some incompetent fool play some dull FPS game.

BEWARE! Avortac4 is a troll trying to waste everyone's time with such idiotic comments. Look at his posts. He doesn't think anything in any film makes sense. His post may seem like it makes sense in the first sentence or two. But he always quickly wanders off into a completely idiotic idea, and then writes a wall of text that makes no sense. And his sole purpose is to waste your time, thinking he's cute for doing so. Don't feed the troll. If you write a comment, you're giving this troll EXACTLY what he wants. Don't comment after my comment.
