The one scene from the book that I wish had been in the movie

For those who've read the novel, there is a scene fairly early on when "Jerry" manifests a black sailor who out of nowhere appears in the habitat and converses with Norman. This was so creepy in the novel, and would have been great in the film, but for whatever reason it was never included.

agreed -- with the right directing that scene coulda added to the claustrophic/horror element of the story. And the "guards" by Harry's door while he's sleeping, that woulda been a chance for some comic relief (ditto for Norman's visit to the ship when he makes the "crew" disappear/reappear). But those plot elements of the book would just take too much time I guess. They trimmed out big chunks of plot that really worked in the book, were really well-described and made the story all the more exciting and real to me.

Don't know, but in the way the film is directed just don't see it happening. I mean, here we are in a thriller, and a new guy appears? Liked it in the book, but in the film...don't know...
