Wow this movie is terrible, READ THE NOVEL !!!
that is all.
Totally agree. The novel is one of my favorites.
shareHell yeah. I just finished it like a week and a bit ago, and just wow.
I looked forward to reading it so much because I remembered the film from when I
was a child, and like I've never been so satisfied with a read.
Crichton is truly a master at his art. RIP.
I've read Jurassic Park, The Lost World, and NEXT (which was fantastic) and I'm
about to start reading Prey which I have no doubt will be as entertaining.
HA! It's the cliché "the book was better" statement. I like the book too, but I feel that the great parts of the story were spread evenly across the movie and the book. Some parts were better in the film, some were better in the novel, in my opinion of course.

I would like to read it too.
I was wondering. Is there a site like IMDb but for novels. Where they're rated and categorized?

I want my 120 minutes back.
But I am very happy with the 10-ish hours it took to read the book.
Funny isn't it?
The film coulda used a LOT of editing and better writing. I just didn't feel like I was going along for a ride with the characters, I didn't feel much for their journeys and so as people died I was as detached as if I was watching a typical teenage slasher film.
And the way Mr. Levinson decided to shoot Harry (post-sphere) was laughable. Reading the book you felt like it was a mystery/thriller/chase the last half or so, but in the film it was over the top and also in your face, although I admit it was a bit creative how the writers got all 3 to get into the minisub, considering the little amount of time they had left to include a big chunk of the book (i.e. Norman returning to the base, then going to the sphere, having the dialogue inside the sphere, leaving the base, then returning to rescue Beth and Harry).
VERY glad I read the book first though. Especially because I could get into the heads of the characters more, since I already did that reading the book. Made it barely watchable if I just replayed in my head what I remembered from the book as each scene of the film played out.
First [big release] movie in a long time that I am giving lower than a 7/10 on IMDB. Too bad though.
