So where did the Sphere come from?

My theory:
at the end of the movie, we see it shoot off into space. It then drifts around until 2043, encounters the spaceship, enters it and causes it to travel back in time to fall into the sea. There it waits for 300 years until it's found... and so on.
So - it doesn't come from anywhere it just is.

A space being that found a purpose through the crew of ship?! When it was realized by the team and it's effects on them, it moved on!
