Missing scenes from the ending on DVD!! *Spoilers*

I was going to mention this years ago when I first bought the dvd but forgot; since I just watched this movie again tonight I thought I'd mention it.

The special edition version of the dvd [UPC: 085391533122] ends with the group agreeing to forget and the sphere flying home, however I watched this on cable tv one night where the group agrees to forget and the sphere starts to fly home then they cut back to scenes where the group are each being interrogated separately by government officials about the ship and/or sphere. I remember Norman was asked about the cargo hold of the spaceship and he said something like "it was huge but there was nothing in it; it was empty" with a confused look on his face.

So why didn’t they include those scenes in the dvd or add them to the special features? I'm just curious if there are any other dvd versions out there that contain these scenes?

I just watched this through Netflix's instant watching service, and the movie ended with the Sphere leaving. There were no interviews. (Unless they were after the credits. I didn't watch through the credits.)

reply

No what I'm referring to happens before the credits. I have an old vhs tape somewhere and I think it's on that, if so I'll copy and post to youtube.

Please do, and post the link here.

I just uploaded the tv ending or "Sphereless" ending which I coined it. I'm just curious how many people have actually seen this version of the ending?

Great, thanks for the link!

I had seen it on TV before, but didn't quite remember the original ending, so I didn't notice. But in that alternate ending, it looks like they agreed to tell a fake story versus actually using the power to forget. That would mean all three still had the power.

this is incorrect. in the alternate, they did forget. its just that you seem them being interrogated about it. they arent lying.

Thanks for posting. I remember that version was always airing on HBO about 15 years ago. I like that ending and wish it was on my DVD, too.

Thanks, that was awesome!

I prefer the DVD ending but also wish that the original ending would at least be included on the DVD as a deleted scene.
